You can rely on our emergency vet services when every moment counts

We’re here for you 365 days a year

If you’re unsure whether your pet needs emergency vet care, contact us immediately for advice. Every second counts in emergency situations.

How our emergency vet hospital works

We know how stressful it can be when your pet is unwell.

If you come to our emergency vet practice and see a lot of people and pets in the waiting room, don’t panic.

Rest assured; our vets will triage all cases that come in to Northside Emergency Vet Service. This means a vet assesses them, and animals are seen based on their emergency level. We will see the most critical patients first rather than seeing pets in the order of arrival, just like a human hospital.

Once it is your pet’s turn to be seen, your emergency and critical care veterinarian will discuss your pet’s case with you. They may ask lots of questions to determine what might be happening and will suggest that tests be done if necessary.

Whatever the case, your vet will discuss treatment options with you and provide you with an estimate of costs for any procedures or treatment they may need.

If your pet is admitted, your vet will keep in touch over the phone to let you know what is happening and how your animal is progressing.

We also work closely with our patient’s regular or primary veterinarian. We will contact them out of hours if necessary. If your pet is stable enough to be transferred to their care, we’ll arrange this. We’ll send all the test results, x-rays, notes about procedures and treatments, and pathology results to your vet, along with any diagnoses made. This will help them continue to give your pet the care they need.

We cannot stress enough how important it is to contact us if your pet needs treatment. Animals can deteriorate very quickly, and we want to give them their best chance at a full recovery.
