NEVS Cares for Local Wildlife

An abundance of wildlife also inhabits the Northern Beaches area, with at least 500 species of native animals calling the area home. Many of these animals are considered to be threatened species.

Local fauna includes:

  • Swamp wallabies
  • Long-nosed bandicoots
  • Sugar Gliders
  • Feathertail Gliders
  • Long-neck turtles

While most of these animals are shy and stay within the confines of our bushland reserves, you might find one in your backyard or injured near roadways. Unfortunately, these animals are often attacked by pet and feral dogs and cats or injured by cars on the busy roads around the Northern Beaches.

If you encounter a sick or injured native or wild animal, please call NEVS for advice.
